About The Position

The 8th Grade Math Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. This role involves managing instructional time, student behavior, and student performance, as well as facilitating instruction and interacting effectively within the educational environment. The teacher will also perform non-instructional duties and adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students.
  • Ability to motivate students.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Ability to perform general clerical duties.
  • Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
  • Ability to operate common office machines.
  • Ability to maintain basic files and records.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage instructional time by having materials ready, starting lessons quickly, and maintaining student time-on-task.
  • Manage student behavior by establishing clear rules and procedures, monitoring student conduct, and addressing inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently.
  • Present instruction effectively by reviewing previous material, introducing new concepts with clear objectives, speaking fluently, using understandable language and relevant examples, assigning tasks with a high success rate, asking appropriate questions, maintaining a brisk pace, making smooth transitions, ensuring assignments are clear, and summarizing key points.
  • Monitor student performance by maintaining clear work standards, circulating during class work, using various work products to check progress, and posing questions clearly.
  • Provide feedback on student work to encourage growth, offering prompt feedback on assigned work and sustaining feedback after incorrect responses.
  • Facilitate instruction by having an instructional plan compatible with school goals, using diagnostic information to revise objectives, maintaining accurate records, aligning objectives with strategies and assessments, and utilizing available resources.
  • Interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
  • Perform non-instructional duties as assigned and adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate evidence of growth.
  • Perform other related work as required.
