About The Position

We are looking for an energetic teacher to join our KFMS team. This teacher will teach 8th grade ELA, an Advisory class, and a possible elective class. The entire KFMS team will continue to work collaboratively to improve Tier I Instructional Practices that support all students in the classroom setting.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate (correct endorsements – K-8)
  • Successful middle school teaching experience
  • Experience teaching rigorous, standards based curriculum
  • Ability to motivate and encourage students with a Growth Mindset
  • Ability to work cooperatively with parents, staff, and administration
  • Skill in data analysis of formative and summative assessments
  • Use of technology in teaching and learning
  • Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences
  • Must be fingerprinted
  • Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation

Responsibilities

  • Teach 8th grade ELA
  • Teach an Advisory class
  • Teach a possible elective class
  • Work collaboratively to improve Tier I Instructional Practices that support all students in the classroom setting
  • Challenge students academically, to promote highest level of learning
  • Demonstrate comprehensive content knowledge as it relates to state standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in various forms of assessment including student self-assessment, formative assessment, portfolios and anecdotal records
  • Make data-driven instructional decisions
  • Build a positive learning environment including modeling respect and honoring the dignity of all students, staff and parents
  • Implement effective classroom management procedures that provide for large and small groups, and individuals in an environment conducive to learning
  • Develop rapport with students
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences including communicating student progress
  • Work collaboratively with a team, contributing in a positive way
  • Commit to on-going professional learning including demonstrating the ability to develop professionally in areas of the school and district focus
  • Utilize knowledge and application of current technology with a multimedia approach to instruction and management of instruction
