About The Position

Hamilton County Schools is seeking an Interim 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher for East Ridge Middle School in Chattanooga, TN. This temporary position runs from September 21 through December 18, 2026. The teacher will be responsible for providing standards-aligned instruction, fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment, collaborating with the 7th-grade team, and supporting the academic and social-emotional development of all students. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid Tennessee teaching license in Social Studies 6-8, 6-12 Social Studies OR current enrollment in an accredited teacher preparation program
• Positive, student-focused educators with strong content and classroom management skills
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
• Committed to high expectations and academic achievement for all students
• Open to feedback, coaching, and continuous growth
• Passion for supporting the whole child academically and socially

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Title I or high-need school settings is a plus

Benefits

• Salary Scale based on education and experience – starting at $50,000.00
• Eligible positions may qualify for additional pay under the Differentiated Compensation Plan
