About The Position

Warren Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher to educate and support students. The ideal candidate will collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to enhance student learning outcomes, implement inclusive teaching practices, and strengthen students’ critical thinking, historical analysis, and civic engagement skills. This role requires a commitment to equity, differentiated instruction, and fostering a supportive, engaging learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification for 7th-grade Social Studies.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and supporting diverse learners (IEPs, 504 Plans).
  • Proficiency in integrating technology and literacy strategies into instruction.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Professional Learning Community (PLC).
  • Knowledge of project-based learning and discussion-based instruction.
  • Experience with formative and summative assessment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-based social studies lessons aligned to state standards that meet diverse student needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages inquiry, discussion, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with various learning styles, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
  • Promote critical thinking through the analysis of historical events, primary and secondary sources, and real-world connections.
  • Integrate literacy strategies within social studies instruction to support students’ ability to read, write, and communicate effectively (e.g., analyzing texts, argumentative writing, vocabulary development).
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to analyze student data, develop instructional strategies, and promote best teaching practices.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including technology, project-based learning, discussion-based instruction, and cooperative learning structures.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress using formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and performance.
  • Establish and enforce classroom expectations to create a respectful, structured, and productive learning environment.
  • Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Support students’ social-emotional development by building positive relationships and encouraging responsible citizenship and civic engagement.
