About The Position

Francis W. Parker School is seeking a 7th Grade Assistant Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, beginning in late August 2026. This role involves assisting 7th grade faculty, supervising student tutorials and/or special projects, and performing miscellaneous clerical duties. The ideal candidate will have an interest in, and preferably experience with, Middle School aged students. Flexibility is key, as the Assistant Teacher will support various teachers within the 7th-grade team in their classrooms. Creativity, a sense of humor, and strong communication skills with adolescents are important. Opportunities exist to coach, lead a community service group, and/or participate in school-outdoors camping excursions. Willingness to chaperone overnight trips is required. Assistant Teachers work 180 days, at least 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with specific start and end times varying by assignment (approximately 8:00 am to 3:30 pm). Duties include recess, lunch, and dismissal supervision as assigned. This position offers mentorship from experienced lead teachers and is a one-year commitment, with opportunities for renewal based on teacher recommendations and administrative appointment. Assistant Teachers also participate in professional development activities during school hours.

Requirements
