About The Position

Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) is seeking a 7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join their school-based team. This is a full-time, in-person position where teachers are integral to creating a strong school community and supporting student growth. RMP is a movement dedicated to changing public education in Colorado by providing college access to historically marginalized students and families. They operate twelve college-preparatory schools and invest in their educators through ongoing coaching, professional development, clear expectations, transparent feedback, and opportunities for career advancement. RMP's approach to English Language Arts focuses on teaching critical thinking, effective communication, and empowering students' voices. The curriculum builds essential background knowledge and vocabulary to enhance comprehension across all subjects, fostering a lifelong love of literature and learning. Teachers are expected to bring the curriculum to life, offering students diverse perspectives and opportunities for self-reflection, preparing them for college-readiness benchmarks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject)
• Complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours within the first year of employment.
• Pass a background check.
• Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Confirm identity and employment eligibility using E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Read and fall in love with the unit texts, cultivating enthusiasm to engage students.
• Write grade-level exemplars of writing tasks, diagnose student writing, and provide efficient batch feedback.
• Understand and apply Common Core Standards to define rigor in instruction.
• Immerse in the Science of Reading to improve literacy instruction using evidence-based strategies.
• Champion the Accelerated Reading Goal by modeling and supporting students in reading 2 million words.
• Support students in the Reading Academy program to become confident readers.
• Take ownership of student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide instruction, and ensuring growth through planning, rigorous teaching, and re-teaching.
• Build inclusive, relationship-centered classrooms using proactive routines, culturally responsive practices, and consistent family communication.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives.
• Support daily operations to maintain a safe and organized environment.
• Model RMP’s PEAK values in all interactions.
• Remain flexible and responsive in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
