Under the guidance and supervision of the Principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for developing and delivering academic instruction and a classroom climate that are consistent with district policy and philosophy and that maximize student potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This role involves implementing appropriate research-based instructional strategies, differentiating activities according to student needs, and designing engaging, standards-based lesson plans. The teacher will implement the district curriculum, maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, and develop classroom rules and procedures that teach and reinforce appropriate social behavior. Responsibilities also include planning and preparing effective instructional activities, materials, learning centers, and assessments, as well as providing whole group, small group, and one-to-one instruction and tutoring as needed. The teacher will manage student behavior in accordance with established codes and policies, collaborate with support teachers and aides for students with special needs, and work with faculty and staff to ensure instructional consistency. Monitoring students in various settings and maintaining data-based documentation of student progress are also key duties. The role requires maintaining professional relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff, participating in staff development, and creating authentic assessments with timely feedback. Accurate documentation of student grades and behavior, communication with stakeholders, and maintaining confidentiality are essential. The teacher must comply with all district policies and procedures and participate in extracurricular activities and committees to foster a positive school community.
