About The Position

This position is for a 6th Grade Science Teacher responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that align with district curriculum goals and state standards, while also addressing the individual needs of each student. The teacher will create a positive learning environment, evaluate student progress, communicate with parents, and collaborate with other staff to support student growth. The role also involves administrative tasks such as record-keeping, inventory, and participation in school-wide activities and committees.

  • Credentials, as required by the State of Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the district's curriculum goals and state standards, as well as the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences that effectively utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluates pupil's academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares reports relating to pupil's progress.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
  • Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
  • May coach, participate in extra-curricula activities, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
