About The Position

Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) is seeking a dedicated science teacher to provide rigorous instruction to 6th and 7th-grade students. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, supportive learning environment that promotes inquiry-based learning aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. This role involves teaching 6th-grade science using the Amplify curriculum and a section of Reading Academy. The science teacher will be an integral part of the educational team, collaborating to ensure student academic success through the implementation of the RMP Science Academic Program & Resources. RMP is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates committed to changing public education in Colorado by democratizing college access for historically marginalized students and families. They operate twelve college-preparatory schools and invest deeply in educator development through ongoing coaching and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject)
  • Complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours within the first year of employment
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide teaching, maximizing instructional time, re-teaching where needed, and promoting outstanding scholar growth and proficiency.

  • Be consistently punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations.

  • Foster strong relationships with families through consistent communication, home visits, and engagement in school events.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted interventions.
  • Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and recruitment efforts.
  • Support school operations by assisting with daily tasks, including arrival, dismissal, and lunch.
  • Consistently use the Intellectual Preparation Protocol to internalize curricular materials.
  • Collaborate with their instructional coach to improve lesson plans and facilitation based on regular, frequent feedback.
  • Be a continuous learner of strong science pedagogy and research.
  • Challenge students with curricular tasks that encourage scientific thinking and let them take the lead in their learning.
  • Align all lessons to the Next Generation Science Standards and implement practices that promote understanding of grade-level science content.
  • Manage lab materials and work within CDE Science Safety Regulations for storage and use in class.
  • Implement network intervention strategies based on student data that support students with unfinished learning.
