Lead project teams as an Electrical CPI Black Belt within the Engine Systems & Software team. Project scope includes all electrical components and software on Caterpillar engines ranging from 4.4 liters to the largest diesel and gas engines, including Progress Rail products. Communication is critical for this role. Ensure effective, multi-channel communication across the organization by keeping the Project Sponsor informed of program status, coordinating activities with other Black Belts, and capturing project case histories that can be reused for future initiatives. Lead improvement projects where the subject matter, solutions, availability, and attainability are highly complex. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities; defining and financially justifying projects; launching and leading cross functional project teams; applying strong project management practices; executing improvement methodologies such as Design of Experiments; tracking project status and results; removing and escalating barriers; and developing team members. It is also essential to identify integration issues with other projects or processes and coordinate improvements with appropriate project and process owners to achieve overall objectives. Measure and manage results by developing and maintaining methods and systems that track progress against project goals, objectives, and metrics. Provide regular updates to the Project Sponsor and take corrective action as needed when performance falls below target. Recruit, train, and develop team members by identifying potential Black Belts, recruiting talent into the Six Sigma infrastructure, and providing training and coaching to expand the use of Six Sigma problem solving tools across the organization. Ensure improvement projects are aligned and integrated with broader business activities, improvement initiatives, and business strategy.

  • Six Sigma Methodology – Working Knowledge: Applies DMAIC methodology to improve and control processes. Selects critical metrics aligned with business objectives. Use statistical and performance tools to analyze trends and variation. Reports and manages deviations from expected performance post‑improvement.
  • Results-oriented change agent with strong business system thinking skills and the ability to manage risk and ambiguity in complex project environments.
  • Strong leadership, organization, planning skills, and deep expertise in CPI methodologies.
  • Detailed engine and electronics technical knowledge and design experience are required.

  • Lead 6-10 simple and complex projects simultaneously and close an average of 8–12 projects per year.
