About The Position

Niles Community Schools is looking for a dynamic 5th Grade Elementary Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role requires highly-effective communication skills and professionalism for daily interaction with a diverse workforce, student population, building administration, and the community. The teacher will plan and provide appropriate learning experiences, maintain student records, prepare and grade assessments, develop lesson plans, and provide individualized instruction. A strong understanding of the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices is essential.

Requirements

• Certified in Elementary Education in the State of Michigan (K-8 All subjects Self-Contained Classroom); or Upper Elementary Education (3–6; ZP)

• Endorsed in academic areas, such as Math, Science, Social Studies, English, etc.

Responsibilities

• Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students on subject matter, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning methods
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction and varied teaching methods in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each Student
• Demonstrates knowledge of the Science of Reading and implements evidence-based literacy practices, including explicit, systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
