About The Position

Harvest Preparatory Academy (HPA) is a public charter school serving PreK-12 students. HPA is dedicated to providing students with a dynamic academic program that emphasizes student-centered instruction in a college preparatory setting. We are currently seeking applications and resumes for a Highly Qualified and SEI endorsed Teacher for one of our 5th Grade classes at our Yuma Campus.

Requirements

  • Highly Qualified per ADE Guidelines.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Passing score on AEPA in subject area.
  • 45 SEI Credit hours.
  • A valid fingerprint clearance card.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with all members of the staff.
  • Must communicate effectively with parents.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of field experience (student teaching) or approved internship preferred.
  • Previous work (professional) references.
  • Three letters of recommendation or a placement file.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans and instruct students in accordance with established curriculum and student needs.
  • Assess student needs and performance.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans, including scheduled activities and materials.
  • Modify instruction to meet the needs of each child.
  • Plan, organize, and display classroom materials appropriate to curricular activities.
  • Utilize and implement classroom management techniques to maintain organization, orderliness, student safety, and a productive learning environment.
  • Plan instruction and implement instructional techniques to encourage and motivate students.
  • Evaluate students' performance regarding achievements in curriculum and activities.
  • Make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
  • Ensure parents and students are informed of evaluation methods used in the classroom.
  • Inform parents of student progress and school activities.
  • Advise parents of instructional methods that may assist students.
  • Participate as a member of an instructional team to promote learning activities for students, consistent with district and school education objectives.
  • Notify site administrator of the special needs of students who display characteristics that vary from the norm.
  • Collaborate with specialists as needed to assist students.
  • Observe children's behavior in the classroom and on the playground.
  • May monitor the activities of a teacher assistant and classroom volunteers.
