As a General Education Teacher, you will deliver exceptional instruction and assess scholar growth. You are dedicated to constant learning and proactively provide academic and cultural support to your school and team. This position reports to the principal.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Highly motivated to teach students from underserved areas and devoted to closing the achievement gap
- The ability to create a classroom setting where students of every academic level experience enjoyment, engagement, and enthusiasm in their learning
- Strong teamwork ethic
- Ability to use data to drive instruction
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree preferred
- NYS certification preferred
- Teaching experience in an urban school setting preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional instruction and assess scholar growth.
- Provide academic and cultural support to the school and team.
- Collaborate with colleagues to write unit plans and interim assessments.
- Share teaching strategies.
- Visit peer classrooms.
- Analyze student data.
- Develop best practice pedagogy that supports literacy and critical thinking skills across all subject areas.
- Employ a variety of collaborative team-teaching models for ELL students and special needs students.
- Apply data gathered through formative and summative assessments to guide instructional plan.
- Develop an individual growth plan, which includes professional goals and objectives in collaboration with the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
- Utilize technology which includes a parent/student portal and school website that provides regular written updates and/or grades.
- Participate in after-school and/or Saturday tutoring, sports, enrichment, arts and family programs.
- Participate in in-house committees of special programs.
- Participate in professional development such as inquiry work, intervisitations, common planning, and collaborative conversation.
