About The Position

St. Francis de Sales Elementary School, located at 38 Granville Street in Newark, is seeking a 5th/6th Grade ELA, 5th Grade Religion & Social Studies Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. The teacher will assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum while helping them to grow in faith and responsibility. Teachers in the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Columbus are expected to know, understand, and contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture as it supports faith formation and student learning. They must understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting diversity, know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility, and use varied assessments to inform instruction and evaluate student learning. Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student, creating Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement, collaborating and communicating with students, parents, other educators, administrators, and the faith community, and assuming responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement.

Requirements

Hold an appropriate Ohio Teaching License (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach.
Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks.
Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught.
Religious Education certification as required by the diocese.
