About The Position

This is a full-time position for a 4th Grade Teacher. The role requires a candidate who demonstrates an enduring love of youth, a love of teaching and learning, and a desire to work in a faith-based atmosphere aligned with the values of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The teacher will be responsible for delivering curriculum, engaging students, and fostering a positive learning environment. A teaching demonstration will be required for top candidates. Successful candidates will embody high energy, broad knowledge, and the ability to distill complex information into understandable concepts. Strong communication and classroom management skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. The position is located at 142 W. 200 N., Salt Lake City, Utah.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years' experience, preferably in a formal elementary school setting teaching Kindergarten through 7th grade.
  • Demonstrate an enduring love of youth.

  • Demonstrate a desire to work in a faith-based atmosphere aligned with values taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the Spalding or Riggs method of teaching writing, phonograms, and reading or a willingness to learn these methods.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Saxon Math, or a willingness to learn and teach this curriculum.
  • Demonstrate high, warm, consistent energy.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge and deep intelligence about the subject matter.
  • Demonstrate ability to distill knowledge into concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrate strong oral skills, including the ability to present information in an engaging way with pacing that moves quickly and doesn't drag.
  • Demonstrate strong written communication skills, including the ability to create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills, including the ability to stay organized and implement routines that are purposeful and effective.
  • Demonstrate a habit of communicating with employees and parents in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, helpful, and positive.
  • Demonstrate experience in preparing and facilitating daily lesson plans.
  • Demonstrate experience in establishing and communicating clear learning objectives to students and parents.
  • Demonstrate ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods that engage students in active reasoning and relating.
  • Demonstrate experience monitoring and reporting progress to parents.
  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Be willing to uphold and serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off-campus.
