About The Position

Sun Valley Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and talented 4th Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, with an October start date. This full-time contract position is located at the South Mountain campus. The ideal candidate is a team player who loves working with students, families, and teachers, and is passionate about making a difference in children's lives within a fast-paced environment. As a K-8 Grade Teacher, you will provide academic instruction aligned with Arizona State Standards, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for diverse learners, and utilize school-adopted systems of practice for curriculum, instruction, and assessment. You will assess student progress, use technology to enhance learning, communicate goals effectively, and use assessment data to inform instruction. Establishing positive classroom routines, implementing student goals from 504 Plans and IEPs, and participating in professional learning activities are key responsibilities. You will also document and resolve student behavior and attendance issues, reflect on your teaching practice, supervise students, maintain accurate records, and participate in school events and meetings. The role requires promoting positive interactions, being responsible, flexible, reliable, and punctual, adapting to change, accepting direction, and exercising positive problem-solving skills. Adherence to the dress code, policies, and procedures in the Teacher Handbook, maintaining confidentiality, acting as a positive role model, and showing respect for cultural differences are also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Minimum one (1) Year teaching Experience
  • Use office equipment and materials properly and in a safe manner.
  • Perform basic math skills and functions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Read a variety of manuals and documents.
  • Writes in a coherent and professional manner.
  • Present information to others.

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate, or Reciprocal Out-Of-State Certificate
  • Master's Degree or higher

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction aligned to Arizona State Standards.
  • Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the grade level that includes different learning styles, abilities, and interests in accordance with state standards.
  • Utilize school adopted systems of practice for curriculum, instruction, and assessment including, but not limited to: Beyond Textbooks, Spalding, data submission, and testing protocols.
  • Assess student progress towards learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents/guardians, and administration.
  • Use available technology to enhance student learning.
  • Communicate learning goals to students and parents or guardians in a well-planned and organized manner.
  • Use school and state assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Establish classroom routines and procedures in a positive manner conducive to effective instruction.
  • Effectively implement student goals outlined in 504 Plans and IEPs.
  • Participate in grade level and/or school wide professional learning activities.
  • Document and proactively attempt to resolve issues related to student behavior and/or attendance.
  • Reflect continually on teaching and professional practice.
  • Supervise classroom and/or other students in the school in adherence with state laws.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by the school and law.
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
