About The Position

Westchester Day School is seeking a 4th Grade Ivrit & Judaic Studies teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will have a passion for Jewish Education, strong curricular and pedagogical knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative spirit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in the content area of instruction.
  • Fluent Hebrew speaker with knowledge of teaching Hebrew as a second language is necessary for teaching teaching Ivrit
  • Possess a deep understanding of the Jewish holidays, Tefillah and weekly Parsha
  • Mastery over lesson planning and the ability to plan and teach towards clear curricular goals set by the school.
  • Strong character and professional references.
  • Effective communication skills, positive and collaborative growth mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement lessons and activities that are developmentally and grade appropriate and follows the set curricular goals
  • Follow the curricular materials and goals laid out by the school
  • Establish and maintain a high standard for classroom management and student engagement
  • Promote active participation of all students to ensure a positive and rewarding experience in the classroom
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration regarding the social, emotional, and academic development of students
  • Maintain close partnerships with families, including phone calls and written communications as needed
  • Use a wide variety of teaching strategies to differentiate instruction to support a range of learners
  • Remain open to learning and growing personally and professionally
