About The Position

This position is for a 4th Grade Elementary Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will create a flexible elementary program and classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth for all students. They will establish effective rapport with students to motivate them and develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for continued progress. The role involves demonstrating appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction, holding high expectations for all students, and acting as a facilitator of student learning. The teacher will organize and use various teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize learning, assess student progress, provide feedback to students and parents, and use assessment results to adjust instruction. They will provide opportunities for academic support and challenge, take responsibility for teaching the district curriculum, and establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects. The position requires staying abreast of current developments in education and deepening understanding of disciplines. The teacher will establish and maintain a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning and building a sense of community. This includes developing classroom rules, managing discipline in accordance with policies, and employing strategies to manage student behavior. The role also involves taking precautions to protect students and school property, demonstrating a respectful and cooperative manner, and assuming responsibility for the effective functioning of the school, including non-instructional assignments and building-wide student management. Maintaining complete records and contributing to school effectiveness through collaboration and participation in school and district activities are key. The teacher will pursue professional growth and development, actively participate in the Performance Based Teacher Evaluation process, and supervise students during after-school activities. Attendance at meetings and activities outside the normal school day, such as professional development, parent conferences, open houses, and staff meetings, is also required. Performs other related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Missouri Elementary Education certification is required.
  • Requires successful student teaching experience and/or prior teaching experience.
  • Requires Missouri Teaching Certification at the Elementary Level.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

  • Takes responsibility for teaching the district curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Keeps abreast of current development in their fields and continues to deepen their understanding of their disciplines.
  • Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.
  • Develops classroom rules on behavior procedures, and maintains fair and just order in the classroom.
  • Manages discipline in accordance with administrative regulations, school board policies, and legal requirements.
  • Develops a repertoire of strategies to manage student behavior, individually and in-groups, in a manner that encourages individual responsibility, self-control, self-discipline, and effective decision-making.
  • Takes reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Demonstrates a respectful, cooperative and caring manner with students and adults in the school community.
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective functioning of the school to include necessary non-instructional assignments and student management throughout the entire building.
  • Maintains complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Contributes to school effectiveness by collaborating with other professionals and participating in school and district activities, such as staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, teacher training workshops and serving on building and district committees.
  • Pursues professional growth and development through staff development and opportunities, postgraduate education, membership and participation in professional organizations and attendance at regional, state and national meetings.
  • Actively participates in the Performance Based Teacher Evaluation process.
  • Supervises students during school-sponsored after school/evening activities.
  • Attends meetings and activities outside the normal school day, i.e., professional development activities, parent conferences, open houses and staff meetings.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
