About The Position

GrizzlyTrek is seeking one Fourth Class Power Engineer to join our valued client's team as a Plant and Field Operator at a producing facility in the Peace River area of Alberta. This is a full-time permanent position on a continuous 12 hour rotation covering both day and night shifts. The role combines plant and field responsibilities: operating rounds, equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, minor maintenance support, and accurate shift logging. This is a local hire, so candidates must already live in the Peace River area and travel to site daily.

Requirements

  • Valid Fourth Class Power Engineer certificate. Third Class certificate holders are also considered.
  • Currently residing in the Peace River area. This is a local hire with no camp, no travel allowance, and no relocation assistance.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation to site
  • Current H2S Alive certification
  • Current Standard First Aid certification
  • Current Ground Disturbance certification
  • Able to commit to a 12 hour day and night rotation year round
  • Physically able to perform field operator duties outdoors in all seasons, including climbing stairs and ladders and wearing respiratory protection

Nice To Haves

  • Field operator experience in gas processing, compression, or heavy oil
  • SCADA or DCS monitoring experience
  • Confined Space Entry certification
  • Fall Protection certification

Responsibilities

  • Complete regular operating rounds across the facility, recording equipment readings and process conditions
  • Monitor and adjust compressors, pumps, separators, pressure vessels, and auxiliary equipment to maintain stable operation
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment problems, taking corrective action within site operating procedures
  • Respond to alarms and upset conditions promptly and escalate as required
  • Perform valve line-ups, isolations, and lockouts to support maintenance activities
  • Carry out minor maintenance, equipment inspections, and housekeeping in the field
  • Support startup and shutdown sequences on process equipment as required
  • Complete shift logs, operating reports, and compliance documentation accurately at every handover
  • Follow all site safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements for field operations
