Overview of the role: Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P. is seeking a 4th Class Operating Engineer, for an existing opportunity within our organization. You'll discover a stimulating atmosphere that fosters your professional growth in a clean and safe environment. This position is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all utilities and facilities (high pressure steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, fire system, etc.) Our plant is a 3rd Class High Pressure Power Plant. Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:30am-3:30pm. Vacation coverage as required (12hr shifts) Status: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: $44.70/hour. Hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays are compensated at one‑and-one‑half (1.5) times the regular hourly rate. Requirements

  • 4th Class Operating Engineer or Refrigeration Operator Class B License Required at a minimum
  • Minimum 1 year hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, service and field operations of various auxiliary equipment – ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, air compressors etc.
  • High pressure boilers, ammonia refrigeration, and air handling systems experience is required
  • Troubleshooting skills with motivation for continuous improvement and reliability is required
  • Familiar with fire suppression and building security system
  • Ability to maintain accurate written records and documentation within a CMMS system
  • Current knowledge in H&S, GMP, HACCP, and BRC procedures
  • Familiar with PLC operation and troubleshooting
  • Handles troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs, preventative/predictive maintenance plans and spare parts
  • Ensure all powerhouse equipment is maintained properly.
  • Ensure availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency and dependability in current position.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial Mechanic Millwright, Industrial Electrician and Automation Technician (eg. 433a, 442a Certificate) Considered an asset with pay premiums
  • Power Engineering Diploma is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily logs and preventative maintenance functions within the plant (refrigeration and auxiliary equipment, high pressure steam boilers, air compressors, associated piping etc.
  • Responsible for their shift and the direct supervision of contractors working in the plant during their shift
  • Operate and maintain the ammonia refrigeration plant (process cooling and warehouse cooling)
  • Complete all required documentation (work orders, logbooks, etc.)
  • Comply with TSSA requirements and Operating Engineers act
  • Comply with H&S, GMP, HACCP, and BRC practices
  • Other maintenance/duties as required
