About The Position

The Media Manager is responsible for ingesting all forms of media received from photographers, producers, and field crews into designated servers and project environments. This includes media delivered on memory cards, optical discs, hard drives, and other storage formats. Attention to detail is essential, as producers and editors rely on the Media Manager to organize, label, and ingest media accurately and consistently—often under tight deadlines and during breaking news coverage. The successful candidate must be highly organized, meticulous, and capable of maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Precise labeling and proper organization of all media assets are critical to ensuring proficient editorial workflows. The ideal candidate should possess a working knowledge of professional camera systems and the various file formats and codecs they produce. Equipment and formats encountered regularly include: Camera Systems Sony FX9, FX6, FX3, X400, A7S, F5 All Sony Prosumer cameras GoPro, Sony ZV-1 (POV Cams) Media Formats / Codecs QuickTime H.264 (various implementations) AVCHD .MTS MXF Additional professional broadcast file formats as required

Requirements

Strong knowledge with broadcast routers and patch bays.
Daily operation of routing systems and occasional use of patch bays.
Comfortable routing signals, downlinking feeds, and utilizing in-house routing and satellite tuning systems.
Working knowledge of Avid Interplay and Avid Media Composer (including NewsCutter).
Comfortable creating pitch reels, assembling b-roll packages, organizing media within Interplay, importing assets into projects, and editing material on a timeline.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with producers, editors, and production teams.
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines, and respond effectively to the demands of live and breaking news production across broadcasts such as CBS Evening News, CBS Mornings, CBS Sunday Morning, and other network programming.
Comfortable operating professional audio equipment, including audio mixers, and properly wiring microphones for talent and guests during interviews, live shots, and studio productions.
Ability to run and connect audio and video cabling between equipment, wall panels, and patch points while maintaining established engineering and production standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, deadline-driven newsroom while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Must meet all applicable IBEW membership requirements and will be required to join the union as a condition of employment.
