About The Position

The 4 Oz Sleeve Inspector’s primary responsibility is to monitor and test product packaging and sealing materials as each container is moved through the sealer and is moved down the conveyor. The Sleeve Inspector pulls samples and monitors the Sealing machine, ensuring continuous and efficient production that meets customer specifications.

Requirements

  • Basic math, reading, writing and literacy required.
  • Ability to identify all machine and work center stop buttons, machine guards, belts, hoods, doors and safety warnings, among other items, to ensure safety and efficient operation of assigned machines.
  • Previous experience, aptitude and/or willingness for hands-on mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times in the Production Area.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and maintenance.
  • Ability to safely use sharp instruments, hand tools, mechanical tools (such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.) and a Non-Powered Pallet Jack.
  • Ability to safely use a hot glue gun and replace the glue stick as needed.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment where priorities change frequently.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Computer skills strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the machine that seals the sleeve cartons on the individual product containers.
  • Pulls samples as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to visually review code placement, lot numbers, glue seal and labels.
  • Record and document sample testing information as required by SOP’s for audit purposes.
  • Ensure the correct codes are being imprinted on the product cups, lids, and seals as required by customer specifications.
  • Monitor for leaking or damaged product containers as they move out of the sealing machine and down the conveyor.
  • May remove, discard, and record tallies of damaged, mis-coded, leaking or inadequate materials and product as determined by customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Adjust line speeds, including stopping the line, to match packaging operations at other points on the line (i.e., the Dacam).
  • When necessary, scrape and clean glue from the sealing rollers to ensure continuous and efficient sealing of product sleeves.
  • Communicate with the Dacam Operator regarding lines stoppages.
  • Relieve the Dacam Operator as needed for lunches, breaks, absences, etc.
  • Communicate with the Supervisor and Maintenance for major repair issues.
  • Reseal cartons as needed and time allows and replace on the line, if specifications are met.
  • Ensures continuous, efficient and smooth sealing machine operation.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Other duties, as needed.
