About The Position

Lafayette County is seeking a 4-H Program Educator to provide leadership and direction for the county-based 4-H Program. This role involves program administration, volunteer management, and educational youth development programming. The position is supported by the Division of Extension - Positive Youth Development Institute and offers an opportunity to strengthen connections between the community and UW Madison Division of Extension. The main office is in Darlington, WI, with primary programming in Lafayette County, though some programming may extend to a broader geographical area. This is an in-person position requiring occasional evening and weekend work, and employees must have reliable transportation for in-state travel.

Requirements

• Experience working with youth, particularly in a programming capacity as well as experience in volunteer management
• Experience supporting or working in youth development, education, Extension, or volunteer-focused programs
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional and collaborative work environments
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives
• Bachelor's degree
• Have a valid driver's license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.
• Ability to lift 15 -20 pounds with assistance
• Endure standing for periods of time
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather

Nice To Haves

• Experience using enrollment, registration, event management, or customer relationship management (CRM) systems
• Experience creating newsletters, social media content, or marketing materials
• Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields: Education, Youth Development, Social Sciences, or Human Development

Responsibilities

• Provide management, training, and support of adult and youth Volunteers, utilizing best practices
• Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
• Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
• Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
• Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
• Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
• Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
• May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending

Benefits

• The minimum annual (12 months) starting Salary for the position is $60,795 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
