About The Position

Kenowa Hills Public Schools is seeking a highly collaborative, student-centered educator to serve as a 3rd Grade Teacher at Central Elementary. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering strong relationships, engaging instruction, and high levels of learning for all students through responsive teaching practices, small group instruction, and data-informed decision making. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of elementary literacy and math instruction, differentiated learning, and the importance of creating a positive and supportive classroom community. Successful candidates must be flexible, collaborative, and committed to supporting the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of all learners.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid State of Michigan elementary teaching certificate
  • ZA endorsement preferred
  • Experience with or willingness to implement: LETRS-informed literacy practices
  • Experience with or willingness to implement: Bookworms Reading and Writing curriculum
  • Experience with or willingness to implement: Bridges Mathematics
  • Experience with or willingness to implement: i-Ready instructional and diagnostic tools
  • Experience with or willingness to implement: Small group and differentiated instruction
  • Experience with or willingness to implement: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  • Ability to analyze and respond to student data to inform instruction
  • Required knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity, equity, and cultural competence
  • Knowledge of one’s own competence in the area of diversity and equity, how this influences behavior, and a desire to learn about others’ identities and experiences
  • Willingness to participate in district-provided training opportunities, including CPI, CPR/First Aid, LETRS, and other district instructional initiatives

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) or relationship-centered classroom practices preferred
  • High level of understanding regarding personalized learning and student-centered instructional practices preferred
  • Strong understanding of elementary literacy development, foundational reading skills, and intervention strategies
  • Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, Mathematics, Curriculum, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in all core academic areas
  • Implement high-quality literacy instruction aligned to district curriculum and LETRS-informed practices
  • Utilize Bookworms, Bridges, i-Ready, and other district instructional resources with fidelity
  • Provide differentiated instruction through whole group, small group, and individualized learning opportunities
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), including analyzing student data through the lens of the four PLC questions
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions
  • Establish and maintain classroom routines, expectations, and procedures consistent with district and building practices, including Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH)
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and belonging
  • Utilize a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to support students academically, behaviorally, and socially-emotionally
  • Collaborate regularly with grade-level teams, interventionists, special education staff, and other support personnel to meet student needs
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and classroom expectations
  • Prepare instructional materials and maintain accurate attendance and academic records as required by the district
  • Participate in professional learning and continuous improvement aligned with district initiatives and instructional practices
