About The Position

Des Moines Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the 26-27 school year to serve as a 3rd Grade Teacher. This position will start in August 2026. This is a pool posting. Requirements

Valid Iowa teaching license - MUST BE ON STANDARD OR MASTER EDUCATOR LICENSE.
This position is not eligible for teachers on an initial license.
Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods.
Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications.

Nice To Haves

Previous classroom teaching experience.
Experience in an urban school district.

Responsibilities

Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ individual needs and ensure growth.
Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students.
Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments.
Monitor student learning on a daily basis.
Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction.
Communicate with families on a regular basis.
Participate in professional development.
Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards
Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
Maintain confidentiality.
Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
