About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a 3rd Grade Teacher at STEAM Academy of Warrensville Heights in Cleveland, Ohio. The teacher will deliver instruction and support students’ academic and social-emotional development in a positive classroom environment. STEAM Academy is an award-winning public charter school serving students in grades EK–8, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. The school is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving students across the United States.

The teacher prepares and delivers lessons, differentiates instruction, monitors and records student progress, manages classroom behavior, and communicates with families. The role also involves collaboration with colleagues, participation in non-instructional activities, use of technology and approved curricula, and implementation of school-wide culture expectations.

Requirements

• Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to properly manage confidential information.
• Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, such as playgrounds and cafeterias.
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
• Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• Create a positive classroom environment that supports learning.
• Use school-approved curricula that reflects students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
• Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
