About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a data-driven and culturally responsive 3rd Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in both English Language Arts and social studies. This role focuses on building foundational literacy, critical thinking, and civic awareness while fostering strong reading, writing, and analytical skills. AMS teachers are collaborative, growth-minded professionals who believe all students can achieve at high levels.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and elementary literacy instructional skills
  • Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Demonstrate commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in 3rd grade ELA and social studies using AMS curriculum and instructional frameworks.
  • Build strong literacy skills including reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and language development.
  • Integrate social studies content to promote historical thinking, civic understanding, and cultural awareness.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including multilingual students.
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in weekly professional development sessions and professional learning communities.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to refine teaching practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding academic progress and student goals.
  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong, positive relationships with families.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies to support student success.
  • Establish a structured, engaging, and literacy-rich classroom environment.
  • Support the social-emotional development of elementary students.
