The 3rd Grade Teacher will help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. This role involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a program of study that meets individual student needs, and creating a classroom environment conducive to learning. The teacher will prepare for classes, encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior, and guide the learning process towards curriculum goals. Various instructional techniques and media will be employed, and the teacher will strive to implement the district's philosophy of education. Student accomplishments will be assessed regularly, and progress reports provided. The teacher will recognize and evaluate learning disabilities, seeking assistance when needed, and take precautions to protect students and school property. Accurate records will be maintained, and the teacher will assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Reasonable rules of classroom behavior will be developed and maintained. The teacher will be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested. Assignments for teacher aides and volunteers will be planned and supervised. The teacher will strive to maintain and improve professional competence, attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as needed. Other necessary duties will be assigned.
