About The Position

Compass Collegiate Academy is seeking dedicated 3rd Grade Lead Teachers for the 2026-27 School Year. Our mission is to provide every scholar with the academic foundation and strong habits necessary to inspire and cultivate lifelong learners who lead purposeful, civic lives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • South Carolina teaching certification in a relevant elementary teaching field required.
  • Proven track-record of achievement as a teacher.
  • Mastery of and enthusiasm for teaching academic subjects.
  • Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.
  • Ability to work hard to achieve the school’s mission.
  • Ability to improve the minds and lives of scholars in and out of the classroom.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written language.

Responsibilities

  • Develop weekly lesson plans and instructional materials informed by data, adapting as necessary to ensure a high-quality curriculum for all scholars.
  • Utilize effective teaching strategies for whole class, individualized, and small group instruction.
  • Lead a daily classroom-based social and emotional learning (SEL) program, linking SEL lessons to the academic program.
  • Collaborate regularly with classroom co-teachers and school staff to provide effective instruction.
  • Identify, record, and reflect on scholar needs, participating in professional development to assess, plan, monitor, and implement solutions for scholar learning challenges.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to support scholar learning needs.
  • Be accountable for scholar mastery of academic standards.
  • Develop expertise with the school’s literacy program, including the STEP Assessment.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of scholar behavior for an optimal learning environment.
  • Regularly input, review, and use CCA’s school-wide data system for tracking scholar behavior.
  • Provide a functional and attractive classroom learning environment with teaching aides and materials aligned to the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with classroom co-teachers and school staff for effective behavior interventions and supports.
  • Participate cooperatively in CCA’s assessment system and data platforms to monitor scholar learning and progression.
  • Develop classroom-based formative assessments to check for scholar progress and mastery.
  • Advance professional knowledge of CCA data systems and reports.
  • Administer assessments in various forms (formative, summative, standardized, etc.) according to CCA’s testing programs.
  • Evaluate scholar’s academic and SEL growth, maintain records, prepare scholar reports, and communicate regularly with parents.
  • Participate in CCA’s professional development program, including annual summer professional development.
  • Actively participate in CCA’s instructional coaching program.
  • Supervise scholars in out-of-classroom activities on rotating schedules (e.g., lunch duty, bus monitor, recess duty).
  • Communicate with parents, CCA leadership team, and colleagues in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Attend school-wide functions and community events as requested.
  • Perform other duties as required to achieve the school’s mission.
