Requirements

  • Must hold a valid USCG MMC with a minimum of a 3rd Assistant Engineer Unlimited or higher
  • Officer in Charge of Engineer Watch (III/1)
  • Rating forming part of a watch (III/4)
  • Able Seafarer-Engine (III/5)
  • Basic Training (VI/1)
  • Proficiency in the use of survival craft (VI/2)
  • Advanced Fire Fighting (VI/3)
  • Medical First-Aid Provider (VI/4)
  • Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties/Security Awareness (VI/6)
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid USCG 719k Med Cert (STCW)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma or equivalent [G.E.D.] or higher
  • At least 2 years of experience Offshore or on Tankers
  • Experience and knowledge of safety management in hydrocarbon processing operations
  • Experience handling flammable/dangerous liquids (familiarization with bunkering/transferring of products)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of propulsion and auxiliary machinery to ensure efficient and safe vessel operation.
  • Perform routine inspections of engine room systems, including fuel, lubrication, cooling, and electrical systems, to identify and address potential issues.
  • Support troubleshooting, repairs, and overhauls of mechanical and electrical components under the direction of senior engineering officers.
  • Adhere to maritime safety protocols, pollution prevention regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant engine room environment.
  • Regularly reviewing and monitoring compliance with safe work systems and maintenance procedures, including reviewing and rationalizing PM procedures and evaluating and optimizing maintenance routines along with other onboard personnel and onshore support staff.
  • Owning various equipment systems and ensuring robust preventive maintenance plans, procedures, and spare parts are in SAP Blueprint.
  • Support monitoring, surveillance, and optimization of key process and utility systems.
  • Supporting operators in surveillance of critical equipment to process systems.
  • Performing ESP duties including shift handover, start of shift orientation, shift team meeting and planning, end of shift reporting, proactive technical monitoring, managing abnormal situations, etc.
  • Performing critical tasks related to HSE case and SEMS compliance, ESP roles, ICS, and proactive technical monitoring.
  • Maintaining readiness of lifesaving equipment.
  • Participating in Hazard Management reviews.
  • Creating Local Work Instructions, Site Specific Task Lists, and BOMs.
  • Reviewing and providing input to MOCs or variances.
  • Performing MIE duties, including performing PMs, routine CMs, support of major equipment break-ins, and maintenance records management.
  • Directing the activities of marine maintenance staff in accordance with the safety regulations and company procedures to minimize the risk of personal injury, environmental damage, and asset damage.
  • In liaison with the HSE Lead, obtaining permits to work authority for designated areas and conducting toolbox talks/job safety analyses as required.
  • Preparing Cargo Plant and Systems for start-up, including IG, Ballast, and the Tandem Mooring and Offload System and associated equipment.
  • Isolating and reinstating Cargo Systems for maintenance, including offload/ballast systems as may be inter-related with ER.
  • Establishing scope of work clearly, including briefings, toolbox talks, and presentations.
  • Planning and controlling the use of resources effectively, including personnel, time, materials, transport, and IT.
  • Using communication skills that show leadership, including oral, teambuilding, recording, noting, handover, and analyzing.
  • Making recommendations and improvements in working practices for greater safety, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Ensuring that all assigned maintenance (routine and breakdown) is completed and recorded accurately and clearly.
  • Ensuring that developing critical situations (including operational, weather, equipment failure, leaks, fires, and personnel) are identified and logged for later analysis.
  • Sampling and checking that controlled discharges from the area of responsibility to the environment are within prescribed limits.
  • Identifying and halting unplanned discharges where possible and reporting them immediately according to policy, procedure, and regulation.
