About The Position

Peckham is a nonprofit vocational rehabilitation organization that specializes in providing vocational rehabilitation and training opportunities for people with significant disabilities and/or other barriers to employment. This role involves working in a large warehouse environment, receiving items from delivery trucks and placing them in the appropriate warehouse area. Responsibilities may also include picking items for outbound shipments, sorting inbound OCIE shipments, or manually loading or unloading trucks or other transporting devices. The position requires unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations according to the Warehouse Management System (WMS). The individual will work relatively unsupervised, using a hand-held radio frequency unit with an LED readout monitor and a bar code scanner to direct them to item locations. They will also be responsible for keying in information from received stock to produce labels and verifying that items are placed in the correct storage area. Accuracy and speed are important, and the worker must be able to recognize discrepant 15-digit part numbers.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able lift up to 40 pounds on a moderate basis.
  • Must be able lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • No positive drug screen for the past 12 months.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get between job locations.
  • Individual must be able to gain and maintain the necessary security clearances.
  • Basic English reading and writing levels.
  • Basic math, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Must be able to recognize discrepant 15-digit part numbers.
  • Must be able to be licensed on a forklift and a reach truck.

Responsibilities

  • Use radio-frequency stock locator.
  • Reports any discrepancies in orders to Shipping and Receiving supervisor.
  • Key in 15-digit part numbers into computer.
  • Meet established deadlines.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment by following manufacturer’s standards of use and cleaning.
  • Work with supervisor towards meeting performance standards.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Daily use of a fork truck, reach truck, push carts and motorized pallet jacks.
  • Operate with a high level of accuracy.
  • Enter computerized data and print tags.
  • Provide training support for peers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
