About The Position

We are seeking a 2nd Shift Operations Supervisor to oversee daily operations for our charter and shuttle bus services. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing drivers, coordinating the evening cleaning crew, maintaining compliance, and ensuring operations run smoothly throughout the shift. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment, and able to balance employee oversight with administrative and compliance responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in transportation, fleet operations, logistics, or a related environment preferred.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable handling paperwork, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when tracking employee certifications, testing, and training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, cleaning staff, management, and customers.
  • Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions during the 2nd shift.
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-through skills.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and transportation compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the 2nd shift transportation team, including approximately 12 drivers supporting a major university shuttle operation.
  • Oversee the evening bus cleaning crew of approximately 6–8 employees, ensuring buses are cleaned, prepared, and ready for service.
  • Provide support and oversight to charter drivers, while allowing experienced charter drivers to manage many aspects of their assignments independently.
  • Monitor daily operations and address scheduling, staffing, driver, vehicle, or service issues as they arise.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and operational reports and paperwork, ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Maintain important checks and balances related to driver qualifications and compliance.
  • Track and ensure drivers remain current with required DOT compliance, drug testing, and driver training.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow up with employees when certifications, testing, training, or other requirements are approaching expiration.
  • Communicate expectations, provide direction, and hold team members accountable for following company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct or assist with driver training and ensure required training is completed and documented.
  • Work closely with management and other departments to communicate operational updates, staffing needs, and compliance concerns.
  • Help ensure buses, drivers, and support staff are prepared to meet customer and service expectations.
  • Respond to issues during the 2nd shift and escalate significant concerns to management as needed.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.
