About The Position

Sumitomo is looking for an experienced, 2nd Shift Supervisor to join our New Berlin, WI team! We are looking for a leader who can roll up their sleeves, inspire their teams, and drive accountability and collaboration. Responsible for effectively supervising, coaching, and developing teams through proactive planning, practical implementation, addressing problems/concerns, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven ability to lead a production team.
• Hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving settings.
• Strong background in continuous improvement and the ability to apply concepts.
• Able to navigate personalities, drive accountability, and promote open communication.
• Supervisory experience, including coaching, directing and motivating a diverse group of employees.
• May require in-depth ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Advanced ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of personnel and production challenges.
• Requires 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate manufacturing activities during the 2nd shift, ensuring production goals are met efficiently and safely.
• Train, cross-train, coach and develop the team to equip them with the necessary tools to succeed.
• Support continuous improvement efforts through lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
• Serve as a backup for the team leads.
• Understand and communicate department goals and objectives to all team members.
• Resolve employee issues through problem and conflict resolution.
• Communicate issues with managers.
• Tackle real-time challenges as they occur.
• Engage in continuous improvement.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine production processes and tolerance limits.
• Complete performance reviews on 2nd shift production team.
