About The Position

The 2nd Shift Operations Leader manages a production cell to achieve defined targets in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role leads hourly team members in the execution of production plans, ensures adherence to standard work, and drives continuous improvement in performance, efficiency, and operational discipline. The Operations Leader is responsible for coordinating shift activities, resolving issues within established procedures, and ensuring effective communication and handoff across shifts and functions. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, basic business drivers, and team leadership, as well as the ability to make decisions within a defined framework and partner with other leaders to support overall plant performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with 2-3 years of experience in Manufacturing environment OR High School Diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage an operation, business, unit, or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery and safety.
  • Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.
  • Team management of salaried employees. This does not include production supervisors who oversee hourly employees.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy.
  • May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
  • Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework.
  • Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
  • Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team.
  • For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE.
  • Explains technical information to others.
