About The Position

The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple award-winning public charter schools in southeastern North Carolina. Classical Charter Schools of Leland, located in Leland, NC, serves students in grades K-8. We have an immediate need for a 2nd grade Teacher. We are seeking outstanding applicants with a degree in Education and a heart to inspire young minds. The position is eligible for an additional Teacher Supplement, and base pay is determined according to the North Carolina State Salary Schedule for teachers holding a Bachelor's degree. Our researched-based Direct Instruction curriculum emphasizes phonics-based reading, writing with attention to penmanship, spelling, grammar, and style, as well as mathematics, science, music, and art, drawing from classical sources. The goal is to provide children with a solid base of knowledge grounded in the intellectual, aesthetic, and moral traditions of western civilization. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education.
  • Valid teaching certificate from North Carolina or a partnering state in the area for which the candidate is applying.
  • Ability to teach a group of diverse learners.
  • Must be on their feet at all times during the day due to constant circulation throughout the room working with individual students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 2nd grade students using a Direct Instruction curriculum.
  • Provide instruction in reading (phonics), writing (penmanship, spelling, grammar, style), mathematics, science, music, and art.
  • Inspire young minds and help students reach their potential.
  • Work with individual students, requiring constant circulation throughout the room and being on their feet at all times during the day.
  • Manage student behavior and ensure academic success.
  • Continuously seek to improve oneself as an individual and as a valued member of the school family.
