About The Position

The 3rd Class Power Plant Operator will report to the Chief Operating Engineer and other Operating Engineers while performing Industrial Maintenance activities and/or Power Plant Operations to meet production / plant operations requirements. This employee will start on a permanent maintenance role and will move up to a relief operator role until a turbine operator or Shift Engineer position is available. The candidate will have to get his 2nd class certification within 3 years and show constant progression with the examination process. The wage rate for this role is $48.28 per hour.

Requirements

  • 2 years of related work experience
  • Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required.
  • Independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from a supervisor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems.
  • May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work, weekend and holidays work, and/or on call duties.
  • Software , Rockwell Factory talk ,MS Office, DCS Controls.
  • Trade Certificate: 2nd or Third Class Operating Engineer certificate of qualification.

  • Maintenance Experience is an asset.

  • Trade Certificate: Second Class Operating Engineer certificate of qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd Health and Safety policies and legislation.
  • The Power/Stationary Operating Engineer will conduct extensive hand-on operations and maintenance work all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility.
  • Maintains, monitors, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical equipment.
  • Full range of operating and maintaining of the facility systems, boilers, chiller plant, turbines, and pumps.
  • Responsible for responding to and troubleshooting equipment.
