About The Position

Mob Entertainment is seeking a talented Lead 2D Artist with a passion for environment design, character design, and asset design. The ideal candidate will also have experience mentoring and guiding other artists to foster their professional growth. This role will involve working on the "Poppy Playtime" IP and other projects. Mob Entertainment values innovative creativity and collaborative problem-solving, and encourages candidates to submit portfolios showcasing their initial ideas, sketches, final rendering quality, and broader concepting/illustration work. The role involves working across all stages of visual development, from early concept to production and marketing. Responsibilities include hiring, leading, and mentoring a team of 2D artists, assisting the art director in establishing and enhancing visual styles, and creating high-quality artwork throughout the process. The position requires strong design thinking, adaptability, the ability to work to a brief, and excellent collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • 3 + years of experience leading a team of 2D artists
  • 5+ years of experience in 2D art for video games
  • A strong grasp of color, light, composition, anatomy, perspective and depth.
  • Fluency in Photoshop and an understanding of complimentary software and tools.
  • Software: Perforce, Adobe Suite, Unreal Engine, Atlassian Suite

  • 3D is a huge plus.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, lead, and mentor a group of 2D artists to further their skills and cohesion as a team.
  • Assist the art director in establishing and enhancing visual styles and style guidelines for new and existing projects.
  • Creation of artwork that is well presented and defined from sketch through to final polish.
  • Solving creative problems through innovative design, balancing form and function.
  • Participates in the overall planning and scope of the Concept needs for projects.
  • The ability to provide multiple creative options, then iterate upon them as projects progress.
  • Switching quickly and fluidly to new requirements and processes when required.
  • Understanding creative briefs, then considering elements such as context, timescales and creative constraints when solving tasks.
  • Receptive to taking feedback and working together with team-mates.
