About The Position

Ice Miller is seeking a summer associate who is interested in patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation to join our Intellectual Property team in Philadelphia or New York. Candidates must have a technical degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or life sciences, including biology, microbiology, or chemistry. Ice Miller’s 10-week summer associate program includes exposure to our Intellectual Property practice group as well as opportunities to learn about the firm’s other practice groups, opportunities to develop direct working relationships with our attorneys and patent agents to enhance your research, writing, and presentation skills, guidance, mentoring, and regular feedback, in-depth training focused on professional and substantive legal skills, opportunities for client contact, social events and team building activities, and competitive compensation.

Requirements

Technical degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or life sciences, including biology, microbiology, or chemistry.
Eligible to take the Patent Bar
Interest in litigation
Strong writing and analytical ability
Excel in a team environment
Demonstrate leadership skills
Prior work experience, including legal, military, or service industry experience
Curious, motivated, and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic work environments
Manage time and projects diligently
Prior experiences that prepare them to work with attorneys/agents, staff, and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from their own.
Permanent authorization to work in the United States
Obtained an undergraduate degree
Enrolled in the JD class of 2028 at an accredited law school
