Whether just getting started in Operations management, or continuing your education, this position allows individuals to unlock their potential by contributing to the success of the U.S. Open Championship in a meaningful manner. The 126th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, which is located in Southampton, NY. This will be the sixth U.S. Open Championship hosted by Shinnecock. This historic site has held a variety of major events that include a U.S. Amateur, U.S. Women’s Amateur, and a Walker Cup. The last time the U.S. Open Championship took place at Shinnecock was in 2018. What You Can Expect: The U.S. Open Short-Term Event Setup & Operations Intern assists the United States Golf Association with the operations of the 2026 U.S. Open Championship, including advance set-up, Championship week responsibilities, and post-Championship breakdown. The hourly rate is $17.00 per hour, and candidates are eligible for overtime in accordance with state and federal regulations. Accommodations and transportation are provided. Working at the U.S. Open, you will experience a fast-paced work environment. The candidate must have the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks at one time. Each day brings new challenges, and the intern must have organizational and communication skills. The ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting boxes and manual labor; spending extensive time working outdoors in the sun should be expected. The weeks leading up to the Championship will require at least (40) hour work weeks and as the Championship grows closer, lengthen to (80+) hours and will include weekends.
