About The Position
Rockwood Preparatory Academy is seeking a dedicated 1st grade teacher for the 2026-27 school year. As a K-5 charter school in Portland's Rockwood neighborhood, we are committed to ensuring every student develops strong foundational skills in reading, writing, arithmetic, and spelling. Our Direct Instruction model utilizes a structured, proven curriculum focused on student achievement, operating under the belief that a child's background does not limit their potential. This philosophy is reflected in our data and student outcomes, with many students leaving RPA reading above grade level. Requirements
- Oregon Teaching License required.
- Comfort with technology.
- Pass a background check.
- A belief that all children can achieve at high levels when given the right instruction and support.

Responsibilities
- Implement the Direct Instruction curriculum in ELA, math, and spelling.
