Overview of position:
The 1st Grade Spanish Math and Science Immersion Teacher supports the academic growth of students through the implementation of DLS pedagogy, comprehensive classroom management, implementing effective engagement strategies, and building authentic teacher/student relationships.
The 1st Grade Spanish Immersion teacher is a contributing member of the Spanish Immersion Program and works closely with campus principals, instructional leaders and teachers, parents/families, and students to ensure measurable positive student outcomes.

The anticipated start date for this position is 08/04/2026, however, an earlier start date may be considered.
The selected candidate will report to the Gilpin Middle School Principal.

Requirements

• 3+ years of teaching experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related field
• Completion of required READ Act training
• Official college transcripts (evaluated by NACES member, if you completed your education outside the US)
• Passing score on required Praxis within one year of hire
• Native or Fluent Spanish Ability

Nice To Haves

• 4+ years of teaching experience
• Previous immersion or Dual Language Immersion teaching experience
• Awareness of and comfort with Tier I interventions

• Effectively instructs using the given curriculum.
• Supplements and differentiates curriculum.
• Builds authentic teacher/student relationships.
• Consistently implements effective engagement strategies.
• Understands language development and acquisition.
• Utilizes best practices.
• Uses restorative justice and liberatory design to encourage a classroom environment that reflects reciprocal respect and the presence of a warm demander.
• Works with parents, colleagues, and to build relationships with community members to deepen learning opportunities.
• Communicates with a wide range of students while providing scaffolding for all learners.
• Utilizes formative and summative assessments to determine student pacing and needs.
• Performs additional tasks and/or assignments to further the mission and vision of the school, as assigned.
