About The Position

The Fuller Academy is seeking a 1st Grade Lead Teacher to plan and implement a program of instruction that aligns with the Academy's philosophy, goals, and objectives. This role involves utilizing effective teaching strategies, participating in quality and compliance efforts, and being responsible for the overall education and supervision of students on a day-to-day basis. This hiring is due to expansion.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate or advanced degree in Elementary Education.
  • At least 3-5 years of teaching 1st Grade experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to professionally and effectively communicate with educators, parents, and community leaders.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional documents or technical procedures written in English.
  • Ability to type reports and input data in English.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Perform other required computer skills.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to our population’s socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Must be a team player and always maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Be a loyal representative of the Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Inc.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States via e-Verify.

  • Florida Certification.
  • Certified in K-6.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise children at all times and never leave a child unsupervised.
  • Develop, review, and implement lesson plans using provided curriculum that meet performance standards.
  • Plan and arrange classrooms into distinctive learning areas that promote effective learning.
  • Integrate technology into instruction using best practices.
  • Assure that all equipment in the classroom is functioning properly daily and report issues.
  • Screen and assess students periodically to determine developmental/educational needs and develop/implement individual education plans.
  • Accurately document daily attendance and meal counts.
  • Monitor meal and snack periods, classroom, restroom, and playground activities to ensure a safe environment.
  • Ensure children with special dietary needs receive proper beverages and meals.
  • Document children’s progress or lack of and complete all manual and computerized forms and reports.
  • Identify challenging behavior or concerns and report to parents, Director, and Family Support.
  • Participate in staffing and follow-up interventions.
  • Foster parents’ participation through planning classroom activities.
  • Plan activities for volunteers.
  • Attend and participate in workshops and other meetings.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences, correspondence, in person, and telephone.
  • Conduct health checks on children and report any concerns/findings.
  • Ensure all lesson plans and activities align with Florida Elementary Education Standards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child.
  • Report any suspected abuse and neglect to designated state agency, Director, and Family Support.
  • Perform First Aid and CPR as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
