We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates one overnight camp on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. We also have 15 Health & Fitness branches across Southwestern Ontario. Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a Day Camp Setting
  • Current Emergency First Aid or higher
  • Must provide a current criminal record check as per the Association’s policy
  • A dedication to demonstrate the YMCA core values

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support to children with special needs
  • Managing behavioral incidents and implementing behavioral redirection strategies
  • Communicating regularly with camper families
  • Developing program inclusion strategies to create a successful camping experience for inclusion campers
  • Act as resource to day camp staff team in terms of inclusive programming
  • Full and active participation in all camp activities
  • Participation in weekly staff meetings
  • Weekend introductory phone calls to assigned camper
  • Willing to work in indoor, outdoor and aquatic environments
  • Be on your feet for the majority of the workday, walking, running, jumping, active playing. At locations that have pools or splash pads, staff are expected to be in the water with the children
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Child Protection policies to keep the camp a safe place for all
