About The Position

The YPLC Coordinator will be a dynamic and passionate individual committed to empowering youth and preventing substance use. The coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the YPLC program, including youth engagement, training, and community outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with youth, particularly those experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
  • Knowledge of substance use prevention and youth development principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for SBY’s mission and commitment to youth empowerment.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy to engage youth in the YPLC program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate YPLC meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Provide training and mentorship to youth and young adult participants on substance use prevention, leadership development, and community engagement.
  • Develop and implement community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about substance use prevention and the YPLC program.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders.
  • Collect and report data on program activities and outcomes.
  • Attend relevant conferences and trainings to stay abreast of current trends and best practices in youth development and substance use prevention.
  • Represent Ward 5&6 DC Prevention Center and SBY at community events and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
