About The Position

This position is a permanent full-time Youth Program Education Assistant (YPEA) II in the Murdoch ASD Treatment and Clinical Habilitation (MATCH) Unit in Summerset Cottage. This position serves as the supervisor and will assign staff to schedule activities and ensure that each employee under his/her supervision carries out assigned duties and responsibilities in the prescribed manner and within the framework of established policies. This position also provides specialized direct services to individuals with extreme behavioral challenges. These services are in the form of behavioral programming, habilitative training/activities, and in assisting with health care needs to whatever degree is necessary. Training covers a broad area and includes complex behavioral programming, role modeling, on-the-spot counseling and decision-making, transportation, crisis intervention, maintaining home-like setting, and such entities as self-help, communication, activities of daily living, generalization of skills learned in more formal settings, etc. Health care ranges from minimal levels of assistance with relatively independent individuals to extensive supervision to protect individuals from injuring themselves or others. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and four years of directly related work experience
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required by facility, CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation required prior to providing direct patient care. NS I/II not required at MDC

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with IDD and/or mental illness.
  • Valid driver's license.
