The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. Responsibilities of the behavior analyst include the following, completing behavior assessments, including functional behavior assessments, preference assessments, and evaluations of relative skill strengths and deficits. Developing and overseeing implementation of comprehensive behavior-analytic treatment plans, including training in adaptive skills, replacement behaviors, and decelerative procedures. Creating and monitoring data collection systems to assess for behavior change and to evaluate the results of intervention efforts. Training staff on plan implementation and procedures participating in interdisciplinary team processes, including discussing orally and in writing behavior supports, proposed strategies for behavior change, and data-based results of intervention efforts providing direct services to people served (e.g., specialized adaptive skill training programs, reinforcement procedures, etc.) as needed. The behavior analyst will be assigned according to agency needs and will serve people with intellectual developmental disabilities who experience severe behavior challenges. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.
