About The Position

The Youth Program Coordinator at the Rohingya Culture Center (RCC) will be a key member of our team, supporting refugee children and families in navigating educational systems and achieving academic success. The role involves assisting with school enrollment, coordinating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for children, and overseeing after-school programs. The Coordinator will also manage after-school staff/volunteers, develop social-emotional learning activities, and work closely with case managers to help families build self-sufficiency. In addition, the Coordinator will be expected to meet specific performance metrics, including enrollment targets, volunteer engagement, and program impact goals. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to effectively track and report on these metrics, ensuring that families and children receive the support they need.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations, particularly in educational settings.
  • Familiarity with early intervention programs, school enrollment processes, and IEP coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and track progress toward specific goals and metrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic data management tools.
  • Fluency in English required

  • proficiency in Rohingya, Burmese, or Malay is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist refugee families with preschool enrollment and connect children to early intervention services for disabilities.
  • Coordinate IEPs for young children and guide parents through the enrollment and educational process.
  • Organize family engagement activities like parent orientations and “Mommy and Me” support groups.
  • Help refugee families enroll their children in K-12 schools, managing the process and ensuring compliance with local educational systems.
  • Coordinate IEPs for K-12 students and encourage parental involvement in school activities and conferences.
  • Plan and implement a summer program for refugee children (e.g., academic enrichment, summer camp).
  • Oversee after-school tutoring and academic support, ensuring students’ safety and the smooth operation of the program.
  • Develop academic enrichment and social-emotional learning activities, such as workshops, guest speakers, and educational events.
  • Track student progress and ensure measurable outcomes are achieved, including academic improvement and increased engagement in RCC activities.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers from local universities and community organizations to support after-school programming.
  • Conduct background checks and ensure all volunteers adhere to RCC policies and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor volunteer engagement and retention, ensuring they meet program goals and deliverables.
  • Work closely with case managers to integrate educational goals into the family self-sufficiency plans.
  • Connect families with additional resources to ensure they are receiving holistic support to reach self-sufficiency.
  • Track and meet performance metrics such as school enrollment targets, volunteer hours, student attendance, and academic progress.
  • Regularly assess and report on program outcomes to ensure that goals are being met and adjust strategies when necessary to stay on track.
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual reports on program success, including data-driven insights on the impact of RCC’s services.
  • Report on each client monthly, and accurately submit before the deadline
  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance in reporting in our database software(s) and in case files as an ongoing task
