About The Position

Youth Pottery Instructor (Jefferson Community Center) If you have experience in Pottery instruction, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as Youth Pottery Instructor at Jefferson Community Center. This is a part-time role beginning in the spring. This role has the potential to be year-round. ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. The Youth Pottery Instructor must be able to plan age-appropriate activities for youth students. Experience in teaching pottery specifically is required. Must have enough experience on a pottery wheel to be able to provide demonstrations and work with students one-on-one for wheel thrown pieces. Other tasks include loading, firing, and unloading the kiln. Estimated Start Date: Saturday 04/04/2026 Schedule: Part-Time, with the potential to be year-round and with additional hours during the summer Saturdays 11am-3pm for Spring, Fall, and Winter Quarters (6 weeks/quarter) Mondays-Fridays 9am-12pm & 1-4pm for Summer Camp (8 weeks)

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships

Responsibilities

  • Complete experience with pottery as described above
  • Experience working with youth
  • Ability to manage, create and lead activities
  • Experience managing a group of participants
