About The Position

The Sanneh Foundation (TSF) is a 501(c)(3) serving the various needs of Minnesota's low-income youth and their families. The Youth Development Program Success Coordinator VISTA will strengthen The Sanneh Foundation’s (TSF) program quality by developing and implementing training systems and quality assessment frameworks. By creating evergreen training materials and adapting program quality rubrics, the VISTA will ensure and support consistent, high-quality program delivery for youth education and skill-building programs at Conway and partner sites, ultimately improving outcomes for low-income youth. The VISTA will develop an in-depth understanding of TSF’s existing youth development models and identify gaps in current training and quality assessment processes. They will design and adapt specialized tools to inform program quality and facilitate staff’s professional growth. The VISTA will implement the new quality systems through direct staff engagement and regular site monitoring, develop and refine training resources to support youth staff and ensure mentor success, and improve program quality and staff morale. They will collaborate with Supervisors to document program delivery recommendations and update sustainability materials for Programming Leadership. Finally, the VISTA will formalize and professionalize program offerings at Conway while reducing barriers for families to access and participate in high-quality programming.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age (no upper limit)
  • Pass a national service criminal history check
  • Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: U.S. citizen, U.S. National, Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens and persons residing in a state that have the following legal residency classifications: Refugee, asylum or asylee, temporary protected status, or deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the AmeriCorps VISTA Virtual Member onboarding and TSF’s onboarding orientation.
  • Review the mission and overlapping services of TSF programs, specifically focusing on youth education and skill-building initiatives.
  • Meet with Program Directors and VP of Programming to assess current program delivery methods and existing staff training resources.
  • Observe active programming at Conway and partner sites to familiarize oneself with current programs, meet staff, and set the groundwork for collaborative program improvement in the future.
  • Review the sustainability materials of the prior VISTAs to understand existing onboarding, offboarding, performance, and corrective action procedures.
  • Identify three personal development resources to increase knowledge related to onboarding, training opportunities, and boosting the morale of staff.
  • Be a participant observer of programs and interview current Sanneh Staff and program participants regarding youth programming (Conway Community Center, Camps).
  • Collaborate with the VP of Programming and the Data & Evaluation VISTA to discuss strategies for collecting program quality data.
  • Attend/observe Sprockets training for Program Quality Assessment tools.
  • Identify other related training to attend with the direct supervisor and Data & Evaluation VISTA.
  • Adapt and implement a rubric for program quality that can be used consistently across various youth education and skill-building sites.
  • Design evergreen program planning resources and training materials for internal staff that focus on youth development best practices and quality adherence.
  • Collaborate with the Data and Evaluation team to ensure quality rubrics align with broader organizational performance measures.
  • Pilot and observe tool success within programming at Conway Community Center.
  • Document observed learnings and suggestions for improvement.
  • Document what was learned about the quality of the programming and the proficiency of operations & processes.
  • Coordinate and (co-)facilitate internal staff training and program planning sessions based on the newly developed evergreen materials.
  • Conduct regular program observations at Conway and partner sites using the adapted rubrics to provide objective feedback to program facilitators.
  • Create program improvement plans in partnership with the primary youth worker of a set number of programs.
  • Include 1-1s and collaborative sessions with staff.
  • Include Workforce staff in this process.
  • Create a process for staff reflection on the program quality sessions to capture key learnings and internal impact.
  • Promote high-quality Conway programs to the public by creating and distributing a quarterly program catalogue.
  • Strategically position oneself in high-traffic areas at the Community Center (e.g., front desk, lobby, food shelf) to support families with registration, welcome them into programs, and communicate new program opportunities.
  • Reduce barriers to accessing high-quality programs by providing hands-on support to families.
  • Attend community events to assist with registration (e.g., sitting side-by-side to complete sign-ups).
  • Follow up with families to personally invite or welcome them into programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the overall registration process.
