About The Position

The Youth Care Supervisor the daily operations of the home, ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment for youth who have experienced significant trauma. This role provides leadership to staff, implements trauma-informed care practices, and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor is responsible for fostering a positive, therapeutic atmosphere that promotes the well-being, personal growth, and stability of residents while maintaining a high standard of care and accountability.

Requirements

  • Two years of college in a social or human service field or a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years prior experience working with youth is required.
  • Must possess strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to effectively support youth who have experienced significant trauma.
  • Valid driver’s license required, with proof of insurance
  • Driver’s license check is a requirement
  • Criminal background screening (fingerprinting) (Local Law Enforcement and FBI/FDLE)
  • Drug Screening is a requirement
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with residents, staff, families, and external stakeholders.
  • Must have basic mathematical skills to manage budgets, track expenses, and oversee financial transactions related to the home’s operations.
  • Must possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess situations and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Role requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed and assist with client mobility when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and reports any suspected abuse or violations of an individual's rights.
  • Ensures that the health, safety and well-being of the individuals are always protected.
  • Provides training and constructive feedback to employees through positive interactions, role modeling, and mentoring.
  • Ensures implementation of therapy, training and behavior programs and data collection required by the individuals' plans regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures that the home offers choice and creative activities within a positive innovative person directed environment.
  • Monitors ongoing compliance with agency directives, licensing standards and policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all homes, outside areas and vehicles are well maintained and organized.
  • Observing residents to monitor their emotional, physical, mental, and social well-being.
  • Providing support to residents during difficult times such as illness or bereavement.
  • Developing treatment plans for each resident and monitoring progress towards goals.
  • Ensure the appropriate documentation of all client records, to include but not limited to, progress notes, incident reports, medication management updates, room checks, intake packets, and case files / yellow jackets.
  • Supervise youth in program on a 24-hour-a-day basis: Monitor youth behavior on and off property, coordinate recreational and service activities for youth, dispense medications as prescribed by a medical professional and approved via court order or 5339, document utilizing a (MARS) Medication Administration Record, and provide an appropriate adult role model for youth in care.
  • Coordinating activities such as birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions for residents.
  • Monitoring resident behavior to ensure that it is safe for others.
  • Establishing rules, procedures, policies, and routines designed to promote the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Supervise, direct and evaluate youth care staff. Provide or arrange for their training as necessary to meet job requirements and regulatory standards.
  • To assist front line supervision in the facility and to be responsible for the staff; to maintain the program in accordance with standards. Position reports to the Residential Coordinator.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the home including overseeing staff schedules, meal preparation, housekeeping duties, and maintenance tasks.
  • Supervising the work of other staff members including nurses, therapists, social workers, teachers, counselors, and kitchen staff
  • Conducting staff meetings to discuss issues related to resident care.
  • Ensure that youth care staff monitor individual youth at prescribed intervals.
  • Conduct “spot checks” of homes and bedrooms at frequent, irregular intervals.
  • Ensure that youth care staff document each observation of each youth as it occurs and maintain independent documentation of security of overall premises.
  • Assist youth care staff in containing and/or resolving behavior management issues affecting the safety and security of youth or staff.
  • Notify the Residential Manager or Senior Director of Out of Home Care immediately of anything out of the ordinary and carry out all instructions given by the Residential Manager or Senior Director of Out of Home Care.
